Melton Golf Club: Parker and Daulby land junior prizes

Melton Golf Club juniors played their Christmas competition in three handicap sections: 0 to 20, 21 to 28 and pre-handicap.

The 0-20 handicappers played a stableford which was won by James Parker with 16 points from runner-up Ed Thompson (13). John Wallace was a further point back in third.

The 21-28 handicap division played a nine-hole medal won by James Daulby (nett 32). Josh Blunt was second with nett 36 and third place went to James Cartwright (nett 39).

The pre-handicaps played a short course as a par three with honours going to Joey Smith from runner-up Ed Gough and third-placed Jack Standeven.

Ed Thompson pipped James Daulby in the putting competition.

The Junior Winter Eclectic was won by Josh Blunt.

* The ladies’ section competition saw 30 ladies take part in a three-ball Texas scramble with only three clubs and a putter each.

The winning team of Diane Orson, Sally Hudson and Joyce McLaren (32.5) finished just 0.4 ahead of runners-up Julia Brown, Sue Bennett and Isabel Gilland.

* The Mingles resumed their weekly winter series last week after the Christmas break.

Alan and Drina Terzza won with nett 30.8, almost six shots clear of runners-up Tom Eadon and Elaine Shelton who returned a score of 36.0. Steve and Karen Middleton took third spot with 37.6.

The best fourball score was Bob Luke with Chris Cook and Alan and Drina Terzza with a combined nett score of 72.4
