Melton Golf Club: Leah receives senior county call-up

Have your say

Melton Golf Club member Leah Radford’s form has been rewarded with call-ups to the county side.

Leah represented Leicestershire Ladies’ first team in two friendly matches against Worcestershire and Hereford, and Northamptonshire.

The teams played a scratch format foursomes in the mornings, and singles in the afternoons.

Seven-handicapper Leah gained two points from a possible four against ladies and girls with handicaps less than five.

* Cheryl Osborne clinched Melton GC’s first ladies’ individual trophy competition of the season last Wednesday.

She narrowly beat Leah Radford and Liz Clark on countback to claim the Medal Winners Rosebowl with a superb nett 74, shot in blustery, wet conditions.

The stableford for those not in the trophy competition was won by Peggy Newton.

* Ladies’ friendly matches are well under way with three played during April. They began with a 2-2 draw at Forest Hill followed by a 3-1 home defeat to Greetham Valley and 4-0 home loss to Belton Park ladies.
