Melton angling: Asfordby and Melton Society and Lakeview latest

Have your say

Weather conditions made angling difficult for Asfordby and Melton Society of Anglers’ latest match at Asfordby Carp Pools on Sunday.

The lake was partially frozen over and the water very clear, but Ray Fessey managed to tempt four carp, fishing the straight lead with bread flake, to win with 16lb 12oz.

Runner-up Rod Hubberd used identical tactics, landing two carp to weigh in 11lb 4oz, while Mick West finished in third spot with a carp and chub for 6lb 5oz.

The Society’s next match is on Sunday, February 15.

* A healthy turnout of 34 fished the latest Lakeview Open match on the reef and marina pools last weekend.
