The new Warren Triples League, sponsored by House of Townend, got under way on Saturday evening with two matches at Melton Indoor Bowls Club.
Melton IBC’s B team took on Belvoir Vale and after a steady start from both sides, the home team had established a seven-shot advantage by the ninth end.
Belvoir worked hard to close the gap, but Melton had extended their lead to 15 by the 15th end. But Vale kept the pressure on to take a rink win and deny their opponents maximum points.
In the other match, Barnstone and Syston pushed hard to get the upper hand, and by the 12th end Syston had built a decisive 18-shot lead.
Barnstone continued to battle and grabbed two rink wins as they closed the shots deficit at the end.
