Melton Amateur Boxing Club seal winning treble at St Ives

Have your say

Melton Amateur Boxing Club celebrated a hat-trick of wins after travelling to a show in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Jarred Power opened for Melton against B. Robinson (Geddington) who came out crouching very low, giving Power easy clean shots.

But Robinson responded strongly in round two, throwing some wild shots. Power managed to block most of the barrage and countered sensibly with upper cuts and straight rights.

Both boxers came out throwing punches in he third and final round, but the Melton man came out on top to win the bout.

James Marshall was next on the bill and also won his opening round as both boxers began with wild punches. But the Melton ABC boxer caught Millard with straight right and left hooks to win it.

Millard opened the second round with body punches which caught Marshall on the hop, but the Eltham boxer soon tired and Marshall took over, throwing straight rights and body shots in the third round to take the verdict.

Callum Power produced a dominant performance against S. Aslam (Wisbech), scoring with straight rights and upper cuts in the opening round.

Power winded his opponent with straight lefts to the body and followed the same pattern in the third to seal the contest.

A good night for Melton ABC with all three praised for their skills.
