The canal pool at Lakeview fished very well at last Wednesday’s Middy £4,000 open qualifier as Sean Huggins won from peg 28 with 117lb 7oz.
With Shaun already through, runner-up Steve Kinch automatically qualified for the final after landing a 112lb haul.
It included many carp to 5lb and F1s to 2lb, catching on maggot and pellet down the track and margins.
Ken Daws drew the lucky golden peg 19 on serpent which bagged him £100.
* Saturday’s Middy open qualifier saw Tom Pringle win with an amazing weight of 164lb which was taken from peg one on the stream.
Tom needed four keep nets after catching ppenty of F1s and quality carp on pellet and maggot, taken shallow down the track margins and across.
Local angler Neil Edwards missed out on qualifying despite catching 129lb 2oz from the river’s peg 12.
Steve Fisher was last week’s winner of the Middy landing net.
* Ken Daws won Lakeview’s Sunday open match with 139lb 4oz off the canal’s peg 10.
Ken took some quality carp to 5lb as well as skimmers and F1s on pellet and maggot, catching down the track and across.
Lakeview host a Bank Holiday Monday match on the canal.
