Dean Clare and Jason Farmery were the latest anglers to qualify for the Middy £4,000 final ;later this month at Lakeview Fishery.

Dean won last Wednesday’s qualifier with 91lb off peg 17 on the canal pool, catching carp up to 5lb, skimmers, barbels and chub on pellet, fishing down the margins and track.

Colder overnight temperature kept weights down, but it made for an exciting match.

Saturday’s qualifier also served up an exciting weigh-in, topped by Sean Huggins who split his catch between three nets for a total weight of 115lb 3lb off canal peg 10.

With Sean already through to the final, Middy regular Jason Farmery finally qualified with 104lb 8oz off marina peg 20. Unlucky Terry Coburn Jnr just missed out, catching 103lb 4oz off canal peg eight before he was knocked back to 93lb 12oz for exceeding a net limit.

Doug Jackson was also knocked back, costing him the section win on stream.

* Kev Kania took the win at Sunday’s open match with 117lb 15oz from marina peg 12.

He caught carp to 6lb, skimmers, chub and barbel, mainly on maggot fishing down the track and margins.
