Roger Holmes was back to his old self at the Lakeview Fishery vets match last Wednesday.
Even before the whistle had blown there were signs of fish all around Roger’s peg 25 on the marina pool and it didn’t take him long to get them interested in his shallow pellet attack.
No-one could get near his total of 75lb with John Cooke second from the opposite end of the lake with a decent weight of 48lb.
Martin Quilter came in third with 34lb, but he was not in the money, while Chris Shore took the other section with a relatively low weight of 26lb.
On Saturday, the river was yet again below par and most anglers were unable to build any significant weights.
The fish seemed to be concentrated in one area of the lake and it was John Cooke, on peg three, who made up a decent weight of 49lb to take top spot.
It was enough to push Chris Shore into second with 41lb, from peg one, and Roy Toulson was third with 31lb. The rest had to settle for some low weights but the majority took more than 15lb.
