Melton martial arts superstar Iman Barlow is braced for her first bout of the year in just over a week as Assassins host their hometown show.
The 11-time world champion faces Barcelona-based fighter Maribel de Sousa in a top-of-the-bill contest at the Market Tavern on Saturday, February 20.
De Sousa is a leading K1 fighter, Spanish kickboxing champion and professional boxer and will take on the hometown girl in a K1 showdown.
Iman’s dad and Assassins chief instructor Mark Barlow said: “Iman has been training really hard for this and sparring has gone very well. We’re going for a knockout.”
The Melton fighter has a busy year ahead with a world title fight lined up at the O2 Arena, in London, just five weeks later, followed swiftly after by Enfusion shows in Slovakia and Belgium.
“Iman is looking for a short bout so the action is going to be fast and furious,” Mark added.
Also on the bill is debutant Peter Whitehead who has been training for a year and is looking forward to his first contest.
Doors open at 5.30pm for a 6pm start. Tickets are available from any Assassin member or Nicko’s Fish Bar.
