Hamilton Tennis Club: Whitewash costs ladies promotion chance

Hamilton Tennis Club’s Winter League season is drawing to a close with mixed fortunes for the teams.

The ladies’ first team lost 8-0 to runaway leaders Loughborough Town and just missed promotion to Division One.

Scores: Carol Gilchrist/Jenny Golland L 0-6, 3-6; L 0-6, 1-6. Beth Lowe/Sibella Chew L 1-6, 4-6; L 0-6, 0-6.

* The ladies’ second team narrowly missed promotion to Division Three, and the men’s third team managed to avoid relegation.

The men’s second team are still waiting to play their outstanding match which they need to win by a good margin to clinch the Division Five title.

The men’s first team are still waiting for other teams to complete their matches to see if they will finish second or third in Division One.

* The under 9s B team of Ben Greening and Alisha Dalby beat Stoney Stanton B 6-0 with each winning their singles and combining to win the doubles.

* The under 12s boys B team won 4-2 against Desford B. Oliver Roberts lost his singles in a third set tie-break, but James won his singles in a similar fashion.

They then combined to win the doubles in two very close sets and sit top of their division with one match to play.
