Competitors in the final round of Greetham Valley’s 2014/15 Winter Order of Merit had to endure high winds and persistent rain from the off.
Scoring was predictably difficult, but three players came in with 37 points and had to be separated on countback.
Peter Key took the honours virtue of a brilliant 20 points on the tougher back nine. Michael Gore was second after compiling 18 points on the back nine
while third-placed Mark Dorsett took third place scored 15 points.
After nine gruelling rounds, the pressure was on to find the overall competition winner.
The top four of Martin Gore, Graham Smith, Dave Copley and Tony Mould played together in the final group with just 29 points separating the four of them.
The win went to long-time leader Martin Gore who just got over the line despite havign his lead cut on the final day by runner-up Dave Copley who had started the day in fourth.
Graham Smith and Tony Mould were awarded joint third place. The trophy was presented by Neil Harris.
* The Ladies’ Order of Merit was decided the fday before and was won by Ellie Haughton who accumulated 245 points over 10 rounds.
Mum Liz Haughton played all 11 rounds, but after taking her top 10 scores to count, she finished with 132 points.
Sheila Douty, who missed the final two rounds, was third, while Liz Taylor took fourth place and Jackie friend was fifth.
