Greetham Valley Golf Club’s Winter League, played over nine rounds prior to a knockout stages, completed round four on Sunday in atrocious wet weather.

Bunkers were flooded and greens saturated, but all of the teams struggled manfully to complete their matches.

Of the 40 pairs to have entered the competition only three have preserved a 100 per cent record and two of these are in the same league.

Graham Smith and Ian Copley, together with Anthony Mousley and John Herbert, seem destined to fight over the honours in League Three, while Bryan Birchall and Matt Williams are undefeated in League Four.

* In the Seniors Winter League, round five was played in still, dry conditions although the ground remained soaked from the previous day’s downpour.

Ian Jarvis won with 40 points on countback from Rob Gray, while John Dowding was third with 38 points.
