Dominant Roy is on top at the Summer League’s final

The latest local sports news.

Roy Toulson was in dominant form as he won the Lakeview Vets Angling Club Summer League final, held last Wednesday.

Canal and Marina were the two lakes to accommodate the finalists for the summer league.

Toulson was in fine form on peg 7 where he caught regularly on pellet finishing the match with 77lbs - well clear of the rest on the lake as he picked up the prize from Lakeview Fisheries.

On the opposite bank Mick Atherton, on peg 21, took second place with 52lbs.

In the sections, Cliff Adcock took one of these from peg 17 with a haul of 40lbs.

Brian Nicholls just took the other by 1lb from peg 1 with 32lbs.

Canal provided a much closer result.

But it was Martin Quilter on his favoured peg 23 that clinched first on the lake with 65lbs taken on maggot close in.

He was well clear of the rest but with Keith Daws weighing in last on peg 15 it was never a certainty, however he was just short with 60lbs leaving him in second place.

The sections were taken by Paul Hickman from peg 29 with 58lbs and John Cooke from peg 9 with 48lbs.
