Brooksby Melton College will host National Premier League netball this season after Charnwood Rutland Warriors made the rural campus their new home.

The club is based across Leicestershire and Rutland with teams from the ages of eight right through to senior.

The senior first team were promoted to England Netball’s National Premier League this season and will play some of the best teams across the country.

Melton has played a part in the success with former King Edward VII School pupils Samantha Griffin and Katie Welsh part of the team.

Katie began her netball career at Old Dalby Primary School, while Sam started out at Frisby Primary School.

The team have already played two away matches against Billericay and Jersey Jets, winning both, and on Sunday make their home debut at Brooksby’s high-tech new facility when they host Lancashire side Bury who are also yet to drop a game.

The club are inviting spectators to go along to the match, which starts at 10.30am, and hope this may help encourage more people into the growing sport.

All future home matches will be played at the college which will also host all of the club’s performance training across the age groups.
