Melton Town round off their season with a good victory

Melton Mowbray Town Bowls Club rounded off their summer season with an 82-64 victory over Belvoir Vale Bowls Club.

Both teams won on two rinks but Melton’s were by bigger margins.

Results (Melton names first): Mick Parker, Eric Morgan, David Poate and Harold Twigg lost to J Shaw, M Britton, P Bailey and T Webb by 19-17; Vince Darling, Beryl Brett, Kevin Hutchins and Kevan Murray beat G Harrop, S Mackiey; S Britton and G Crooke by 19-13; Alan Dawson, Mike Pratt, John Evans and Les Woodcock beat W Rawlings, M Porter, J Bloor and E Harrop by 32-12; Janet Evans, Mike Mayfield, Bob Johnson and Fred Thorpe lost to Hilda Wiles, John Mackley, Edmund Young and John Law by 20-14.

Melton Town BC’s ‘Thursday Matches’ have resulted overall in 14 wins and seven losses, with 1,305 shots for Melton to 1,167 against.

The two club championship winners for 2016 are Janet Evans and Harold Twigg.
