Melton Swimming Club A team make fine start

WEDNESDAY, 2pm: Melton Swimming Club's A team went to Loughborough on Saturday for round one of the Leics Swimming League Division One.

Their first competition of the year brought a fine third place finish behind Penguins A and Long Eaton A.

Fine performances were many, but race winners included Lauren Boland in the 15yr 100m breaststroke, Sam Kirkland in the 13yr 50m freestyle and Jordan Partridge in the 13yr 50m breaststroke.

The boys' 13 and under freestyle team of Sam Kirkland, Jordan Partridge, Guy Mousley and Jacob Mousley also won, as did the girls' 13 and under medley team of Emma Foers, Hazel Jackson, Charlotte Tait and Asia Hamdorff.

Jack Crankshaw set a new club record of 1min 08.54secs in the 14yr 100m butterfly, while Sharon Lock set a new club best of 1.20.34 in the 25-plus 100m breaststroke.

Newly promoted Melton B found the going tough in their First Division debut, but still clocked 12 personal bests, finishing sixth overall.

The night's best result went to Rhys Smith with second place in the boys' 13 and under 50m backstroke.
