Nine-time world champion Iman Barlow is relishing a new challenge as she takes a trip into the unknown.

The Melton Thai boxing ace travels to Zhengzhou, in China, to fight in a K1 bout against local favourite Xu Zhurong. Iman and her dad Mark will have a day’s journey and just a day’s rest before the bout.

Mark said: “The odds on winning the bout are against us, but it will be a good experience for both of us and I know Iman will give it 100 per cent in the bout.”

A week earlier, 11 fellow Assassins compete in the WTKA European Championships, in Sheffield, and the same group will then fight in the British Championships, in Birmingham, the following weekend.

All are expected on the bill for the Assassins’ next show in Melton on Saturday, June 13 when eight fighters from Turkey will take on the home club.

Mark added: “We have never brought eight fighters over from anywhere in Europe before so this will be a huge achievement for me and the Assassin team.”
