Melton RFC U9s make full contact bow at Harborough

Melton RFC U9s kicked off the new season with an away fixture at Market Harborough.

A full squad of 16 players made the trip, all excited at the prospect of their first match with the full contact tackle.

Some of the smaller Melton players were apprehensive at the size of some of the big Market Harborough kids.

But with reassurances from the coaches and a reminder that good tackling technique will yield results, they threw themselves into it and performed brilliantly.

Man-of-the-match was Jopling who waded through some big tackles and was fearless in the centre.

The players will be in action again on Sunday at the Dave Lamplew festival in Syston.
