The first match saw Melton face Leicester Forest East. The game was narrowly lost by one try following a nervous start from the boys.

Their nerves were understandable considering this was only the second week of the season in which they are now into full contact.

After a pep talk from head coach Wayne Greaves, the boys found a new confidence for their next four games which saw them face hard competition from Leicester Lions, Oadby Wyggs, Syston and Market Harborough.

Throughout these games Melton showed great team spirit with good consistent tackling and awesome defence to secure four wins.

This made for a three-way tie between Melton, Syston and Leicester Forest East who couldn’t be split and all three teams were declared winners.

Coaches Wayne Greaves, Nathan Carlick, Adam Broughton and Chris Box are all looking forward to what the new season may bring.
