Hen raced in Porsches for a season, but has spent most of his 12-year career in the British MG Championship and spent last year racing an MG Maestro.

The car is capable of reaching speeds of up to 140mph and will race at the UK’s premier circuits, including Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Donington and Rockingham.

Hen will also race in a couple of the televised rounds on Motors TV.

“I know my way round MGs, but the Montego, with its longer wheelbase, will be a bit different,” he said.

“The car is the championship-winning car from last year and is a proven race winner.

“I’m hoping I can carry that tradition on in the new championship.

“I was born in the 80s, so to drive a car from that era will be great.

“Snetterton will be a great race. Time to blow the cobwebs off and get a race win.”

Hen lives in Melton with his wife Lea and two children, Chase (5) and Lilah (2).

He added:“They have all caught the racing bug and have helped me with the preparation of this Montego. They have been really helpful.

“Chase is hoping to get into go karting next year so we are all well and truly a racing family.”

Hen also wanted to recognise the support of his sponsors CliftonGarage.co.uk, Wayside Adhesives, Trophy Cars and Honeybourne Mouldings.
