Melton Olympic Cycling: Midsummer Championship riders suffer as temperatures soar

Last Wednesday saw Melton Olympic Cycling Club host their annual Midsummer Handicap Championship 25 Time Trial on the Granby course.

On the hottest day of the year, the temperature during the evening was still at 31c when the first riders set off, causing some of the riders to really struggle.

Melton’s super tester Jamie Haines again showed his class to claim the spoils in a time of 58min 53secs with Steve Savage second in 1hr 01min 33secs,

Russell Gent claimed the veterans’ trophy in 1.06.04, while Mike Street secured the Saddlebag Trophy in 1.16.06.
