As well as picking up trophies as league winners, the club also won most sporting team and player of the year awards which are unveiled on the night.

The Marvels first team were first division champions in the Leicestershire Netball League after a dominant year.

Having set their focus on winning promotion, the team won all 14 matches, racking up a league-high 585 goals and conceding just 232 to end the season as the only undefeated team and win promotion to the Championship.

Melton’s second team took home a trophy treble after adding Division Two’s Most Sporting Team award to the Plate, while Hatty Edmond was named Player of the Season.

Their success has earned them a new sponsor, Shakespeare Martineau Real Estate Lawyers for the 2017/18 season.

The third team, meanwhile, were also title winners after finishing top of Division Three to join their clubmates in the second division.

Marvels also field an A team, made up mostly of players recently returned to the sport, and they finished joint third in the Rutland League.

The backroom staff includes Jenny Smith (head coach/manager), Becky Greaves (club captain/assistant coach), Laura Stevens (secretary), and Dannii Donovan (assistant coach).

* Last month the club’s junior side, the Micro Marvels, supported by a Trumpton award, made their competitive debut at the Regional Clubs High 5 Tournament at Nottingham.

The enthusiastic team of nine netballers, aged from eight to 11, pitted their developing skills against established teams.

Their first win, with a 4-1 scoreline, came after regrouping with coaches Dannii and Jenny during the lunch break.
