Melton Kings in dominant form as they clinch victory by 10

Have your say

Kings ground out a good win in their latest league outing.

Titans controlled the early stages but it was Kings who opened the scoring, courtesy of G Watts’ outside shot.

Kings were very sluggish, however, and slow to react to Titans’ offence.

Poor ball management saw Kings trailing 10-4 when Kings called a timeout to enable some tough talking from the coach.

It worked as the Melton side fought their way back into the contest at 13-12 before Titans’ B Starcevic hit a jumper on the buzzer to give them a three point advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Titans extended their lead to 26-18 in the second quarter but Kings upped their defensive intensity which caused Titans to rush their shots. With E Hunt stealing the ball and going on to score lay-ups, Kings managed to tie the game up at 30-30.

Another Hunt steal and two free throws from T Rumbold put Kings two points ahead at halfway.

Kings started the third quarter with the same intensity as they finished the second. With M Reynolds finally finding his shooting range, the Melton side stretched their lead at the end of the third quarter to 56-45.

Kings began to take their chances and surged ahead by 67-54 in the final quarter.

Titans had a mini revival, but Kings controlled the ball and ran down the clock to see out the game and clinch a victory by 10 clear points.
