The Melton pair, skipped by veteran bowler Don Welch, went down 20-14 to Barwell’s Joe Dawson who had earlier seen off Melton’s Chris Rodgers in the quarter-finals.

Welch, who reached the over 60s national singles semi-finals a few years ago, had seen off pairs from Barwell, Leicester, Church Gresley and Charnwood on their route to the last four.

Dawson will meet the Spalding duo led by Martin Spencer in the final, with the winner of that tie going through to the national finals which Melton will host from Saturday, March 25 to Saturday, April 2.
