Melton Hockey Club: Firsts taught a lesson by students
Against a much younger Nottingham Trent University team who were far quicker to the ball, Melton went behind in the early minutes of the match and never really recovered.
Several short corner goals with a few individual mistakes led to a half-time scoreline of 5-0 which did not flatter the home side.

Despite creating few chances in the game, Melton did manage to at least shore things up to some degree in the second half.
The hosts only managed to run in two second-half goals, but it was still a dispirited Melton team which trudged off at full-time.
Melton will get a chance to put things right on Saturday when they host high-flying Ashby in the East Midlands League Premier at Melton Sports Village (12.30pm).
In a league which is looking tightly contested, they will hope that their most recent performance was just an aberration.
