Melton Golf Club: Senior team returns to winning ways

Melton Golf Club’s men’s midweek stableford last Wednesday was won by Jack Griffin with 37 points, two ahead of runner-up Chris Vose.

Chris pushed Kevin Robertson back into third place on countback over the back nine. Rob Smith scored the day’s only gross two to win the sweep.

* After a four-all draw with Ruddington Grange, Melton GC seniors returned to winning ways with a 6-2 home win over The Nottinghamshire Seniors last Tuesday.

Results: Gerry Stephen/Owen Cook won 2 and 1; Bob Luke/Bob Parkinson won 4 and 2; John Squires/Don Benzie won 2 and 1; Haydn Snow/Joe Carrington won 4 and 3; Dave Wells/Richard Haines won 1-up; Richard Grieve/Dennis Dayman won 3 and 2; Frank Williams/Dick Chapman lost 3 and 2; Jerzy Schmidt/Alan Terzza lost 3 and 2.

* A total of 31 points won Jim McQuillan the seniors’ Tuesday stableford last week from second-placed Steve Harris.

Steve shot 29 points to knock Bob Barnes into third place with 27.
