Sam Pollard went one better when he won the John Jackson Scratch Club Championship on Sunday with a combined 150.
The week-long wet weather made the Melton Golf Club course long and affected the scores, with all players finding the going tough over the 36 holes.
Junior captain Jake Mogg was in pole position after the morning round with a gross 74, one shot better than Kieran Foster and two clear of 2015 runner-up Pollard.
But Mogg fell away in the afternoon, leaving Pollard and Foster fighting a tough battle for the championship. Pollard’s 74 left him three clear of Foster to clinch the title of club champion.
Mogg tied for third place with last year’s champion Callum Relf with a combined 156.
Nett sweep (morning): 1 David Poolan, 2 George Boddy, 3 Jake Mogg; (afternoon): 1 Callum Relf, 2 Neil Eaves, 3 Rob Smith.
