Last year’s Melton Mowbray Golf Club captain Jack Inguanta lifted the Autumn Trophy after the final round went ahead on Sunday.

The shotgun start six-round series had been a close contest all season with four players in the running to bag the trophy.

The final round was played as a pairs event to open up the points on offer and keep the result unpredictable, and was won by Inguanta and Mark Lewis. Runners-up were Billy Kevan with Gary Kitchen, and third spot went to Jonathan Wade and last year’s winner Anthony Halls.

JP O’Reilly won the nearest-the-pin competition.

The results gave Inguanta a combined total of 37 points from his best four scores to finish two points ahead of runner-up Kevin Robertson (35pts), and he was presented with the trophy by Chris Radford.

Competition organiser Chris Radford and Dave Timbrell tied for third place with 34 points.

* Karen Middleton and Leah Radford represented Melton GC in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes on Sunday.

Having qualified by winning the club competition last year, the pair were drawn at home to Stoke Rochford.

Conditions were far from perfect, but Karen and Leah won 6 and 5 and now wait to hear who their opponents will be in the next round.
