The shotgun start six-round series had been a close contest all season with four players in the running to bag the trophy.

The final round was played as a pairs event to open up the points on offer and keep the result unpredictable, and was won by Inguanta and Mark Lewis. Runners-up were Billy Kevan with Gary Kitchen, and third spot went to Jonathan Wade and last year’s winner Anthony Halls.

JP O’Reilly won the nearest-the-pin competition.

* Karen Middleton and Leah Radford represented Melton GC in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes on Sunday.
