Melton and Rutland Chess Club host taster sessions

Have your say

A fun and instructive day of chess tuition for primary school children is being offered by Melton and Rutland Chess Club.

Places are still left for the day which takes place on Saturday, June 27 at the Conservative Club.

The event is part of a monthly drive to teach children at all levels of experience from beginner to expert.

Research has shown pupils learn concentration, problem-solving skills and logic as well as patience, but most schools in and around Melton do not have a chess club.

Tuition is led by former Knight School Rutland chairman Bob Wallace, and aims to be fun as well as educational.

The cost is just £6 for a 90-minute session.
