Barkby United kept their Division One promotion hopes alive with a convincing 10-wicket victory over Kirby Muxloe on Saturday.
Having won the toss and put the visitors into bat, Ian Kirk was soon among the wickets, taking the first three with only 27 runs on the board.
Kirby took the score to 60 before spinners Townsend and Drake came into the attack.
After Kinsey was run out, Townsend (3 for 17) and Drake (3 for 12) finished off the away side’s innings for only 87 runs.
In reply, openers Kirk and Berrisford made short work of reaching the target in only 11 overs.
Kirk hit the ball to all parts of the ground to finish unbeaten on 67 off only 28 balls, while Berrisford was unbeaten on 14 as Barkby wrapped up a commanding win.
Barkby’s hopes of reaching the Premier Division received a further boost when Matt Boyce, who retired from professional cricket with Leicestershire last week, agreed to join the club in a coaching role.
