Barkby United’s promotion hopes took a knock as they succumbed to a six-wicket defeat against Kibworth Seconds.
The visitors won the toss and chose to bat with Kirk and Berrisford putting on 38 before the latter was out for 10.
Just 11 runs later Kirk was trapped leg before for 26, and a mix-up between the Flowers brothers saw Tom run out for eight with the score on 52.
Steve Flowers was then bowled for 10, leaving Barkby at 65-4, and Phillips and Drake soon followed, leaving the away side in trouble at 92-6.
Matt Harby and Ryan Waplington took the score to 159 before Harby was out lbw to Hill for 46.
Waplington (31 not out) and Hollis (4 not out) took the Barkby total to 169-7 from their 45 overs, a total which looked inadequate on what was a good wicket.
Barkby bowled well and made Kibworth fight hard to achieve their victory target, the winning runs coming with only nine balls left, Drake the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 27 from 10 economical overs.
