Lakeview fishery vets: Late catches tip the scales for Cooke

Have your say

The fish were not feeding well at the Lakeview Veterans match last Wednesday.

John Cooke (Notts AA) struggled like the rest, but two good fish caught in the last 20 minutes with maggot and pellet made the difference and gave him a 54lb 12oz total. He finished just 12oz ahead of John Upton who must have thought he was in for a rare win having found most of his fish down the margins, fishing banded pellet.

Close behind in third, with a section win, was Ian Donaldson (52lb). The other section was taken by Pete Cliffe with 37lb.

* Only six anglers turned out for Saturday’s match on Reef.

Cliff Adcock took first place, fishing maggot down the margin from peg 25 to land 61lb. Pete Sisson chose to fish pellet across to the island and took second with 52lb, pipping Pete Cliffe and Bob Crocker who just missed out with 50lb each.
