Lakeview Fishery: Tom lands a grand at Middy Winter final

After months of qualifiers, an exciting Middy Winter Series final saw Tom Pringle walk away with the £1,000 grand prize on Saturday.

Pringle also won a luggage set, donated by Middy, and several other prizes handed out over the series.

He drew peg 15 on stream and started down the track and over later, catching on maggot and pellet for a total haul of 65lb 7oz.

Sean Huggins and Matt Smith both caught 57lb 12oz off the same lake in a tight top three.

Andy Searle won the top 10 payout for the highest aggregate weight during the series of 819lb 5oz, taking home £275, while Sean Huggins was close behind with 808lb 3oz to win £250.

Pringle and Eric Lillyman won the random pairs prize of £30.

Jackson finished second with 47lb 12oz, off canal peg 10, catching carp, skimmers, barbel and tench on maggot.

Overall winner Dave Harper, who took 72lb 4oz from canal peg 12 had already qualified.

* In-form regular Dave Harper took top spot on the Sunday’s open match at Lakeview.

He claimed a total weight of 60lb 6oz from peg six on the canal pool, fishing down the track and margins on maggot to land carp, skimmers and barbel.
