Simon Skelton won again for the second time in three qualifiers at Lakeview Fishery last Wednesday.

His amazing weight of 149lb 6oz off the canal pool’s peg three topped a day when five anglers exceeded the ton mark in an exciting match. Simon caught a lot of F1s and carp up to 4lb on pellet and maggot.

As the Maver team angler had already qualified for the Middy £4,000 finals, the qualifying spot automatically went to newcomer Tom Edwards who caught an excellent 138lb 7oz off peg 23.

Tom landed more than 200 fish for his weight, mainly catching F1s to 2lb down the track and margins.

* Ken Daws was the fourth angler to qualify for the Middy £4,000 competition on Saturday and joins Simon, Tom and Dale Lynch who won the second qualifier with a fantastic weight of 148lb 13oz.

After a very cold start, Ken took an excellent weight of 104lb 15oz, off peg eight on canal, catching carp up to 4lb and F1s to 2lb, mainly down the track and margins, fishing shallow.

Matt Skelton was this week’s lucky winner of the Middy landing net.
