Harrison Culpan and Evan Watson turn on style for Melton Mowbray Tennis Club
The youngsters had started off the season well with a 4-2 away win at Charnwood B and were hoping to consolidate this with a good performance at Loughborough.

opposite number with a fine 4-0, 4-1 win in the first singles.
Despite many long rallies Melton’s number 2 Evan Watson was not able to
Make it a double for Melton, going down by a 4-2, 4-1 score line.
This left the match in the balance going into the deciding doubles rubber.

This proved to be a tight affair with many long rallies and deuce points but the Melton lads just held their nerve and played the all important points really well
to clinch the match with a 4-2, 4-3 score line.
This leaves the team at the top of the league with just one match to go against unbeaten Leicestershire A team. Whatever the result Head Coach Di Burdett says that the boys have performed brilliantly and as with all our teams
receive only praise from the opposition, not only on their quality of play but on their excellent behaviour both on and off court.
Meanwhile the Club’s 9 & Under team were also hoping to take the top position in their Group 2A match following a bright start winning two out of two but came up against a strong Oakham team and went down by a 0-10

Score line, giving Oakham the league and the Melton youngsters having to settle for the runners up spot.
Despite this result another encouraging sign for the club youngsters and a really superb effort by all involved.
Having started with a win over Loughborough the team then notched their second win when they overpowered Charnwood B by a 10-0 score before losing out to Oakham in a league decider.
