Early starters in the final round of Greetham Valley’s Winter League had to contend with fogbound course.
Division One leaders Stephen Burgon and Steve Chisholm beat Fred Aspin and Martin Boughton 2-up to take maximum points from the round-robin group stages.
Graham Smith and Ian Copley leapfrogged Fred and Martin into second on 10 points after beating Alley McNaughton and Dave Pusch.
Ian Bain and Dave Morgan lost their final game to Wayne Terrett and Chris Wheatland, but still topped Division Two with 12 points, as did second-placed Carl Causbrook and Neil Crees who beat Ray Gladwinfield and Mark Hibbitt in their last game.
Winners for the last two years, Pete Dickinson and Peter Smith took top spot in Division Three after beating the father and son pairing of Ian and Adie Cunningham, while Chris Steele and Darren Haughton finished second after a win against Kev Hingle and Andy Webb.
In the final division, Alan Bennett and Steff Dutton won with 12 points despite losing to Steve Sharples and Andy Dickinson. Second place went to another father and son team, Paul and Adam Clegg, who beat Ben Miles and Mark Haynes 1-up.
The quarter finals will be held on Sunday, March 1.
* Sheila Douty won the latest round of the Ladies’ Winter Order of Merit thanks to 20 points on the front nine and 19 on the back.
The win cemented her second place in the overall table behind leader Ellie Haughton who scored 35 points to take second place.
Liz Haughton and Jackie Friend shared third place after coming in with 34 points.
* Despite a heavy downpour which lasted most of the day, the seniors completed round nine of their winter league.
No-one could catch the very steady John Dowding who came in with a 67 to finish five shots clear of Peter Giblett, Ken Stewart and Neil Bradbury who were second, third and fourth on countback.
The win cemented John’s overall lead, which he has kept since week one, with just one more round to go.
He has amassed 192 points, well clear of second-placed Peter Giblett (124) and Bob King (118) in third.
