On Sunday, the Winter League was played on the Lakes Course at Greetham Valley.

In the penultimate round of the competition there are still four teams fighting in League One to take the two available knockout places.

Wins for Peter Dickinson with Martin Thwaites and Darren Sargood with Joseph Sargood kept them at the top of the table with 12 points each, but Nick Cunnington and Lewis Daff are making a determined effort, as are Dave Copley with Tony Mould, who each have ten points.

In League Two Alan Bennett and Steff Dutton are sure of progressing, whilst the same applies to Anthony Mousley and Jamie Herbert and Matt Williams and Bryan Birchall in Leagues Three and Four respectively.

The last and deciding round takes place in two weeks.

The Seniors played a team stableford competition, and playing off 90 per cent handicaps, there were some surprising scores.

Third place, on countback, was taken by Alan Sorlie, David Nicol and Joe Ball with 78 points.

Also on 78 points, but squeezing into second place was the team of Nigel Cox, Alan Sanders and Ken Moore, who had a very steady round but managed to up their game over the last six holes to win the countback.

The winners by a wide margin were Rob Gray, Gordon Wiles and John Morfee with 86 points.
