Wymeswold went top of North Leicestershire League Division One after edging a seven-goal at Greenhill on Saturday.
A Linford Harris hat-trick and Leo Coggan’s strike gave the villagers a 4-3 win at Greenhill YC Reserves, with Richard McLaughlin (2) and Jordan Ward replying for the hosts.
The result sent them above overnight leaders Sporting Markfield on goal difference, and three points clear of third-placed Cossington.
Both of the top two have six games left with Wymeswold set to start on a run of three home games, beginning on Saturday against second-bottom Mountsorrel Amateurs Reserves (kick-off 2pm).
While many of the league fixtures were curtailed by rain, Bottesford came through their opening game of the Premier Cup, beating Sutton Bonington
2-1 thanks to goals from George Crowther and Luke Pinnoch.
