THE Melton Times is turning the spotlight on sports and leisure clubs across the borough.

We’re working with the Melton Health and Sport Alliance to help guarantee Melton’s Olympic legacy as plans for a new sports hall progress.

Today it’s the turn of Mowbray Rangers Football Club.

Founded: 1984

Base: Matches played at Asfordby Hill Sports Ground or away within Leicestershire. Winter training is at King Edward VII Sports Centre

When do you meet: Weekly training with matches played weekly for 11-17-year-olds and fortnightly for 7-10-year-olds

Activities: Junior football for all abilities. Weekly soccer school on a Saturday for 5-10-year-olds for fun football-related activities. Boys and girls welcome.

Cost of sessions: Soccer school £2.50 (10.30am-noon), matches £3, training sessions £1

Additional comments: We’re a friendly club run by volunteers who have all passed FA CRB Safeguarding Children courses and hold level one coaching badges. Mowbray Rangers are always looking for new members to strengthen squads as well as willing volunteers to help with the running of one of the largest football clubs in Melton.
