Mowbray Rangers Under 15s kicked off their season in Division One with a 3-2 win over GNG.
The away side pressured Mowbray for the first 10 minutes, but Mowbray took the lead when Reek’s wonderful cross allowed Plowman to score with a free header.
Soon after another corner from Clark allowed Plowman to grab his second headed goal.
Hibbitt was controlling the game in the middle of the park and making crucial tackles, while Reek was winning all of the aerial duels.
In the second half GNG pulled one back with a long-range effort, but another set piece goal from Close relieved the pressure and restored the two-goal cushion.
GNG scored again late on but couldn’t grab the equaliser as the defensive qualities of the back four helped Mowbray take all three points.
Three days later the squad travelled to Thurmaston and produced a poor, scrappy performance in a goalless first half with Thurmaston always looking dangerous on the break.
Early into the second half Thurmaston went ahead with a brilliant strike, but Mowbray showed great character to bounce back and Clark’s superb through ball allowed Plowman to equalise.
Mowbray created many chances later on, but overall a point was fair to both sides and allowed Mangers to maintain their solid unbeaten start to the season.
