Rangers were without injured goalkeeper Puchacz, but began well, with Woodall and Aldridge playing in Young who drove at the goal, but his effort was well saved.

Windrush looked to play quick balls to the channels and win the physical battle, but Rangers’ defence was resolute, with Dalby and Bartley getting in good tackles.

Worby then combined with Grant to cut inside and play in Worby whose powerful shot broke the deadlock.

But from the restart Windrush levelled when a shot from just outside the centre circle found its way into the net.

This seemed to galvanised the hosts, and after Young and Aldridge were forced off by challenges, Windrush scored again with a flicked effort which went in off the post.

Rangers responded well with good movement and passing, with the lively Bruce-Chapman among the chances.

Tyler broke through on goal, but on his weaker right foot, his shot ran wide.

But five minutes later, Ross clinically levelled from the spot after Tyler was taken out as he shaped to shoot.

With Rangers playing better, they pushed for a late winner, but this proved their undoing.

Roscoe lost possession on the edge of the box, and the resulting shot squirmed under the keeper for 3-2.

Rangers were stunned and pushed hard for the equaliser and Grant went close with a sharp shot.

But Rangers were forced to leave gaps at the back and Windrush made it 4-2 from a neat counter-attack

It was Mowbray’s first defeat of the season and a first win for Windrush, but Rangers will take lessons into their next game.
