Holwell Sports will hope to repeat their knockout exploits of 12 months ago when they kick-off their latest FA Cup campaign on Saturday.

Simon Daws will take his side to East Midlands Counties League rivals Ellistown and Ibstock United for the extra preliminary round tie (kick-off 3pm).

Prior to last season, Holwell had not won a game in the world’s most prestigious domestic football cup, but they put that record right in style.

They began by beating fellow EMCL side Graham Street Prims and then caused one of the upsets of the next round when they beat higher league Retford United, away, 3-0.

They eventually succumbed to further higher league opponents Spalding United in the first qualifying round, again on the road.

Sports follow their cup exploits with their first league match of the season on Tuesday when they host Anstey Nomads with a 7.45pm kick-off.
