Exciting young talent Ashleigh Plumptre returned to international action with a bang on Monday against the reigning European champions.
Ashleigh, who began her career as a prolific goalscorer for Asfordby Amateurs, lined up for England Women’s Under 17s against Germany.
The 16-year-old scored after just four minutes before being substituted at half-time.
But the Germans hit back to win the first match of the mini-tournament 4-2 at Bisham Abbey.
Ashleigh, who is also in training for her second Women’s Super League season with Notts County, is expected to play against France tomorrow (Friday) in England’s final match before April’s European qualifiers.
