Graham Wells’ late winner gave Holwell Sports the bragging rights as they saw off Barrow Town in the North Leicestershire derby on Tuesday evening.
Barrow arrived at Welby Road fresh from a big 5-1 win over Aylestone Park on Saturday, while Holwell were searching for their first win in five games.
Holwell’s leading scorer added to his impressive tally with a 90th-minute winner as Simon Daws’ team beat the Riversiders 1-0.
It was the striker’s 24th league goal of the season and earned Sports only their eighth win in the East Midlands Counties League to remain 16th.
The win provided some welcome relief for Holwell fans after watching their side lose a two-goal lead in a 3-2 home defeat against Holbrook on Saturday.
Two goals in three minutes from Wells and Carlton Cropper had put the hosts in the driving seat against their Derbyshire opponents.
They appeared to be easing to three points as they led 2-0 with 20 minutes to go.
But Nial Mather’s 15-minute hat-trick turned the game on its head, netting the winner with five minutes remaining.
Holwell’s final game of a difficult season is on Saturday, April 30 at Graham St Prims (kick-off 3pm).
