Bottesford Football Club are hoping to tap into the success of England’s inspiring run at the Women’s World Cup.

The village club has developed a thriving girls’ section over the past few years, and now has teams playing league football at under 10 and under 11 age groups, as well as a development squad for younger players.

The club has spaces across all primary school age groups for new players ahead of the new season, regardless of previous experience.

Beginners are very welcome as are girls who have already played in mixed or all-girls’ teams.

Team manager Matt Burton said: “We hope the coverage of the Women’s World Cup, and the amazing run the England Lionesses had to the semi-finals will have created interest among girls across our area to want to start playing football.

“We have a very welcoming club at Bottesford and would be keen to hear from anybody who might like to join us for girls’ training from mid-August when we start again.”
