Asfordby prepare to kick off league campaign away at Rothley Imperial

They will travel to face Rothley Imperial in the Everards Brewery Leicestershire Senior League Division Two North & East.

Kick off at Rothley Sports and Social Club will be at 3pm.

Asfordby recently welcomed Shepshed Amateurs to Hoby Road for a pre-season friendly on a very damp night, securing a 6-2 victory.

Linford Harris netted a hat-trick with Luke Howitt, Roman Strong and Tom Atherley put Asfordby 6-0 up before Shepshed netted two late consolations.

This weekend the Development side began their season with a 3-0 reverse against Syston Brookside in the Countryside Insurance Services League Three.

Gem Radio Breakfast Show presenters Jo & Sparky were the first guests down at Asfordby FC to take part in the club’s Football Challenge, which can be viewed on their YouTube channel.

They took on young striker Rhys Hill in three different challenges to try to beat the footballer.

“It was an idea that I’ve wanted to get off the ground for quite a while,” said the clubs PR manager Matthew Pond.
