The midfield of Hill, Mee, Swann, Simpson and Fox set the tone as they won every battle, and Atton’s pass down the wing set Hill away who used his pace to go past their defence and calmly beat the keeper when one-on-one.

Thringstone hit straight back at the defence of West, Eldred, Atton and Halliday and when a long ball was played over the top, Thringstone slotted it past the advancing Cook come to make it 1-1 within five minutes.

It was end-to-end football, with Orridge holding the ball up to start more attacks.

Poachers made changes with West, Orridge and Simpson off for Brown, Rowe and Carlisle.

With half-time approaching, Poachers used their pace on the flanks with Carlisle’s just evading the head of Rowe.

But Hill collected the loose ball and found Swann whose shot was blocked but following up, Mee fired in from outside the box to make it 2-1.

Poachers made some more substitutions at the break to freshen things up with Mee off Dolby and Taft on for Mee and Halliday.

From the restart Fox and Carlisle connected well down the wing to earn a free-kick which Taft pinged into the top corner from 30 yards.

Asfordby kept up the pressure, with the tireless Carlisle firing the ball across the goal where Dolby tapped home at the far post.

Taft’s clearance found Rowe who held the ball up, battled past four defenders and the keeper to make it 5-1 and cap a well-deserved win with every player giving everything.
