Facing a team from two divisions higher, Poachers started with their usual high pressing and were ahead within two minutes when a clearance fell to Brown whose pinpoint pass found Carlisle to squeeze home a finish from a tight angle.

The midfield of Hill, Simpson, Swan, Fox and Carlisle did not let anything past, and when Carlisle went on another run down the wing, he swung the ball across goal for Smith to score at the back post after five minutes.

Narborough started to find their feet and played some good football, but Brown, Eldred, Atton and Halliday protected their goal, leaving keeper Cook with little to do.

Mee, on for Carlisle, got straight into the action by winning a free-kick which he sweetly put into the top corner from an acute angle just before half-time.

Poachers brought on Taft, West and Rowe for the second half, and they continued as they left off with some nice football and plenty of hard work.

It was 4-0 when Taft found Hill who made his trademark run down the wing and cut inside to calmly finish past the keeper.

From the restart, West cleared to Fox who found Eldred’s run out of defence to make it 5-0 .

Rowe then stayed strong against some physicality thrown and played a precise ball to Carlisle who walked it into the net for 6-0.

Hill mistimed his tackle and conceded a penalty, but Cook coolly saved it to preserve his clean sheet.

In-form Poachers host Narborough Foxes on Sunday.
