Luke Peberdy gave the home side the lead inside four minutes, but Tom Pope levelled for Cottesmore before the break and then put the visitors ahead in the second half.

But just as it seemed Jon Allsop’s newly-promoted side were heading for a fourth straight league defeat, the host were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute and Tyler Haynes stuck it away to rescue a 2-2 draw.

On Saturday, Asfordby had slipped to another narrow defeat at FC GNG.

All of the goals came after the break as the visitors went down 2-1 despite Junior Gaskin’s second strike of the season with 20 minutes left.

Asfordby lie 14th in the Premier Division, while Cottesmore sit one place above after three matches.

And it was a humbling start for Holwell Sports Reserves at Division One leaders Barrow Town Reserves on Saturday.

Sports could field only eight players for their opening match of the season and predictably crashed 18-1, Mark Cowling with their consolation.
